Announcement

Sugar Daddy Race postponed to November 13, 2021

Hello Sugar Daddy Race Family,

We have received official word from the City of Santa Clarita that they will not permit the Sugar Daddy Race to take place on June 19th. While the state of California has specified the state plans to being fully re-opening on June 15th, we were very hopeful that we would have no problem hosting the Sugar Daddy Race on June 19th. Unfortunately, the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County Health Dept is not ready to move forward that quickly to begin permitting outdoor community sporting events. Wah wah wahhh!

This is a harsh blow as we have been working hard to prepare for our race and implementing the new California Department of Public Health COVID-19 Guidance and safety measures. We have watched pandemic circumstances getting better each week. When Governor Newsom announced the state would begin to fully re-open starting June 15th we thought for sure we were golden. We have gone back and forth with the city to try to find an agreeable solution to make this event possible, but there is not a lot of room to negotiate with government organizations. Our relationship with the city is great, they are always in support of our events, this is more about their process, and being ready to allow events within the city. It will happen very soon, just not soon enough for June 19th.

Once again that we are forced to postpone the 5th annual Sugar Daddy Race from June 19, 2021, to a new date on November 13, 2021, 1-week after LA Marathon. This is the earliest weekend we could find to fit into our existing roster of races this year as we have races booked back-to-back almost every month.

We know you’re wondering, what happens with your race entry? All registered entries will be carried into the new November 13th date, no action is required on your part. If you are not able to make the new date, you do have the following options:

  • Change to virtual and earn the race medal and swag in the mail
  • Defer to 2022
  • Cancel and receive 50% credit towards any future event of ours in California within the next 2-years
  • Donate entry to help support us

If you wish to choose one of these options, please submit a request, or for questions please contact us.

This pandemic has forced our hands for the past 15-months, we realize this is an inconvenience for everyone, we have poured so much effort and cost into preparing for the race only to be forced to postpone it once again, hopefully for the very last time.

The past year has been extremely challenging for us and we sincerely appreciate your understanding, patience, and support as we ride out of this pandemic. The light is very bright at the end of this tunnel, we are almost through it and ready to get back to hosting our awesome races once again.

In the meantime, show your support for the Sugar Daddy Race and our other races with our running buffs and gear that you can start wearing now.

We sincerely miss seeing all of your happy faces running at our races. Our first race coming back from this pandemic is the Silver Moon Race in Paso Robles on May 29-30th. Come join us for a great weekend running experience, use code: RUNSILVERMOON for a discount.

Stay healthy, keep running, and we can't wait to see you on race day!

2020 RACE POSTPONED TO 2021

2020 Sugar Daddy Race postponed to June 19, 2021

Hello Sugar Daddy Race Participants, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Friends,

This announcement comes with a very heavy heart as we continue to ride through the Great Shutdown for the past 9-months. This week we received the final word from the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County Health Dept that we are not able to host the Sugar Daddy Race due to the rising COVID-19 pandemic numbers in Los Angeles County.

We were hopeful as the curve was trending down over the last few months and counties across the state were progressing to the next stage of opening businesses and allow gatherings.  However, in the last month, that trending curve has reversed and the county has put on more restrictions for any type of public and private gatherings.

This means we are not able to host the 5th annual Sugar Daddy Race on December 12th and are now forced to postpone the race to its original 2021 scheduled date of June 19, 2021, on Father's Day weekend.

We are deeply saddened as this is a very special race experience that is dearly loved, but we also want to support ending this pandemic as quickly as possible. We can't be foolish or stubborn when it comes to people's lives, with hundreds to thousands of people that are a part of our events, the welfare of participants including runners, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, family, and crew is always a priority at our events.

What happens with your race entry? All registered entries will be carried into the new June 19 date. If you are not able to make the new date, you do have the following options:

  • Change to virtual and earn the race medal and swag in the mail
  • Defer to 2022
  • Cancel and receive 50% credit towards any future event of ours in California within the next 2-years
  • Donate entry to help support us

If you wish to choose one of these options please submit a request or for questions please contact us.

This pandemic has forced our hands for the past 9-months, we realize this is an inconvenience for everyone, we have poured so much effort and cost into preparing for the race only to have this pandemic force it to be postponed.

These are extremely challenging times for us and we sincerely appreciate your understanding, patience, and support as we ride through this pandemic to get back to hosting our awesome races as soon as we can. Let's all do our part to try and stop it, be smart, and stay safe.

In the meantime, show your support for the Sugar Daddy Race and our other races with our fun buffs and gear that you can start wearing now.

We sincerely miss seeing all of you, our race family brings us so much joy in our hearts. Stay healthy, keep running, and we can't wait to see you on race day!

2020 Sugar Daddy Race postponed to December 12, 2020

Hello Sugar Daddy Race Participants, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Friends,

We were very hopeful the COVID-19 pandemic would have run its course by mid to late-May. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

We have received an update from the City of Santa Clarita that they are extending the mandate for no special events through the end of July. This means we are not able to host the 5th annual Sugar Daddy Race on June 20th to celebrate Father's Day weekend.

We are deeply saddened but we also want to support ending this pandemic as quickly as possible. We never want to cancel any race unless there is no option, instead, after careful review, the race will be postponed to December 12, 2020.

Key factors for choosing the new date are avoiding the excessive heat of August and September months and fitting into our race schedule for 2020. All entries will be carried into the new December 12th date and registration will remain open.

If you are not able to make the new date, you do have the following options:

  • Change to virtual and earn the race medal and swag
  • Defer to 2021
  • Cancel and receive 50% credit towards any future event of ours in California within the next 2-years

Alternatively, if you wish to earn the awesome 5th anniversary Sugar Daddy Race medal and swag now you can change your entry or sign-up to run a virtual race.  We will begin shipping out virtual packets within a few weeks once medals arrive.

Submit request or for questions please contact us at run@sugardaddymarathon.com.

We are hopeful that this date will stick, however, like everything in the world right now, this is entirely dependent on what happens in California and what the government mandates.

New Global Adventures would not have made it over the last 5-years without the tremendous amount of people in the community that has been supporting us and our events by being a participant or volunteering year after year. Your success at our races has been our success and we cannot overstate our appreciation for all the love and understanding we have received. We love our races as much as you love to be a part of them, we are in this for the long haul and plan to create awesome race experiences in the community for many years to come.

Thank you for your support and understanding in this challenging time. Stay healthy, keep running, and we’ll see you once things start to get back to normal.
